encourage, Mike and Kim

“We want to encourage you that God has you in his wonderful hands…”

Our names are Mike and Kim and we want to thank you for taking the time to get to know a little about us. We know that this may be a difficult time for you but want to encourage you that God has you in his wonderful hands and he is doing something beautiful with your life.

It’s strange how God uses painful events in our lives to change us, refocus us, establish new friendships and encourage us to move in a different direction . And it’s amazing how He often takes the broken pieces of our lives and fits them together to form something even more wonderful than we could ever have dreamed up on our own.

We have seen it happen.

Mike and Kim as a Team

Kim and I met one summer as we worked as daycare counselors for a local Christian school. Feelings were immediate between us and we decided we would team up together on field trips and were able to get to know each other better. Two years later we were married.

Kim and I make a great team in life and have lots of fun together.  [Written by Mike] Kim is honest and gentle.  She is 31 years old and enjoys reading books, shopping, and spending time with friends.  When together with friends, which is often, Kim is the life of the party.  She has a natural ability to make friends.  Kim makes a point to do so everywhere we go, even in the line at target.  She has an outlook on life that with a little kindness, she can change someone’s day for the better. [Written by Kim] Mike is trustworthy and loving.  He is 36 years old and works as a structural engineer.  He enjoys swimming, reading, woodworking and getting out into nature.  He’s a natural planner which makes him a good leader and caretaker. Mike is a very caring and calm person. Whenever he is the room, I feel myself relax and I know others feel the same way.

Together Kim and I love to go to the movies, spend time at Disneyland, and make our own adventures. Some of our favorite memories have been made getting in the car with no plan for the day and seeing where we end up. We genuinely love each other and balance out each other’s weaknesses.

Our Family’s Story

A little over 7 years ago we were laid low, unable to start a family on our own. We were hurting and afraid to put ourselves out there in the process of adoption but we persevered. And then God began to pick up the pieces of our shattered dreams and fit them together into something new. He led us on a long journey to Michelle who introduced us for the first time to our daughter’s Birthmother. We had no idea what to expect when we first met Amy, but we were open and honest and formed an immediate connection. Over the next several months we continued to build our relationship with Amy and before we knew it, she handed us our beautiful daughter, Emsley. Our adoption of Emsley is now finalized but we still have a strong relationship with Amy and make an effort to get together with her at least once a year.

Our Emsley

Emsley is now 5 years old. Our daughter is a strong willed but sweet and caring little girl who loves being silly and making art. Becoming a big sister excites her! She looks forward to singing to a little brother or sister when they are sad, helping them learn to walk, and playing with them all the time.

As a family, we love to be silly together. We love taking trips to the beach and the mountains and especially Disneyland. Our church involvement has led to many friends. We both serve in children’s ministries and Project Hope, our church’s orphan care ministry.

Our little family is such a blessing, and lately we have felt the call to add another little one to our clan.  From past experience we know that God will bring someone into our lives that is in His perfect plan.  As He directs us on this next adventure, we wait.

We love adoption.  God brings just the right people together to form families. Adoption is not a plan B for our lives, but is a beautiful calling given to us from the Lord. Thank you for taking the time to read a little about us. We want to encourage you that we are praying for you as you make this upcoming decision for you and your child.
